Gabriel Lopez, BA
Gabriel Lopez is a forty-eight-year-old Chicano that was born and raised in East Los Angeles, CA. As a troubled youth, he joined a gang at the age of fourteen. Displaced, and misunderstood, Gabriel was shot several occasions, served multiple prison terms, and fell into drug addiction. In 2014, he turned to Homeboy Industries in a desperate attempt to change his life. At Homeboy Industries, Gabriel was first introduced to therapy, and healing-based classes. It was here that his life was changed. Gabriel received two associate degrees with honors from ELAC and moved on to earn his BA in Sociology from CSULA. Today, Gabriel is a Senior Case Manager at Homeboy Industries Youth Re-Entry Center, where he mentors and provides services to system impacted youth. Gabriel has obtained sole custody of his eleven-year-old son Elijah.
